In 2011, Godrej Group launched Good & Green, as a vision of promoting inclusive growth in India. One of the goals is to empower one million unemployed and under-employed individuals through skills that enhance employability and livelihoods potential. These programmes adopt a shared value lens, working in industries which Godrej Group has a business, in order to build a more competitive context at large, leveraging its industry expertise and networks. So far, the Godrej Group has trained over 6,40,000 young people and learnt several valuable lessons along the way. This report summarizes key insights from an eight-year journey, rich with successes, failures, experiments and scale up.
Samhita Social Ventures was commissioned to conduct a two-year impact evaluation covering our employability and livelihoods programmes spanning Beauty & Wellness, Agriculture, and Real Estate. The evaluation combined a lean data approach with semi-longitudinal qualitative methods.
