[Update] Samhita wins the IEIF grant

Samhita Social Ventures is one of the winners of the Impact Economy Innovation Fund (IEIF). The IEIF is a collaborative effort of DasraOmidyar Network, and The Rockefeller Foundation and is aimed at bringing about considerable growth in the impact investing industry and social enterprise sector in India. Samhita is among the six winning organizations among over 120 quality applications.

This win ensures a support of $100,000 to Samhita that will act as a huge boost to our work in this space. With this support, we envisage to create an ecosystem that carefully researches social enterprises across all causes and geographies in India, to build and disseminate knowledge of best practices in the space of corporate support to enterprises, to develop a platform to showcase the enterprises and, most importantly, to build strategic bridges for more corporates to invest in social enterprises.

We consider this a huge opportunity for building sustainable social businesses and a pathway into the future of the development sector of India. According to Ms.Priya Naik, Founder and Joint Managing Director of Samhita, “We are delighted to be awarded the IEIF grant. It ratifies our vision of symbiotic synergies between corporate India and social businesses and gives our work in this direction a significant fillip. The grant will help us to step-up efforts on building the ecosystem for fostering sustained partnerships between corporates and social enterprises and, by lowering market barriers for social enterprises, boost the effectiveness of impact investors in India. With the right support and action, this could be a platform for strong, inclusive growth for India.”
