Amola is an undergraduate student at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in the field of exploration geophysics.
She has worked for KCG - a student consulting group at IIT Kharagpur in the areas of human resource development, branding and fund raising exercises. Amola is a voracious reader and loves taking up challenges. She is part of the institute student placement committee for the current academic session, and has also worked in the organizing team for her college's annual cultural fest. Her meritorious academic performance won her a scholarship for higher education from the Government of India.

Joanita, majored in journalism at St. Xavier’s Colllege Mumbai, and graduated with a Bachelors of Mass Media degree in May 2010.
Till date Joanita has actively organised and participated in a plethora of activities ranging from; sports events, international programmes, guiding jamborees and school and college functions. She has been a department representative on the college student council and was awarded St. Xavier’s college student of the year 2010. As a Rashtrapati Guide in school and a member of the Social Service league in college, Joanita has been involved in numerous community service projects. This inculcated her interest in social work and brought her to Samhita.

Nirmita completed her Masters in Public Health from George Washington University in August 2010. She graduated with a concentration in Epidemiology/Biostatistics and a certificate in Health Policy. As a student, she also worked at the Washington AIDS Partnership, a nonprofit organization focused on addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Washington, D.C.
Nirmita chose to pursue an internship with Samhita due to her passion for learning more about the nonprofit sector in India. After completing the internship, she will begin working as a Health Policy Analyst for the Kaiser Family Foundation in Washington, D.C.

Oishik is a final year student of law at the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar.
His areas of interest are taxation, corporate law, foreign investment law and alternative dispute resolution. He is committed to the social sector and wants to use his legal acumen to develop the sector. Oishik heads the “GNLU for Poor”, a policy formulating committee under the aegis of the Gujarat National Law University for providing free and effective legal services to the poor. He is the founding member of Legal Services Committee of the University which provides free legal services to the community. Oishik is a foodie and enjoys art and photography.

Pranava has completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Management at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta in April 2011 and is currently waiting to join The Royal Bank of Scotland group as a Graduate Trainee. Prior to that she majored in Mechanical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
She pursued a variety of interests in college like acting and directing plays in the dramatics cell, lending her voice to the college band, heading the campus magazine, and even taking a couple of classes for American middle schoolers regarding Indian culture and Telugu. She served positions of responsibility like the elected Literary Secretary of her hostel and was deeply involved in organizing the cultural and technical fests. She is extremely passionate about reading and writing. Having never worked before, she is very excited about entering the corporate world. Being introduced to the world of nonprofit during a student exchange in Boston, she was in search of an internship to make use of her vacant time productively in the industry when she found Samhita.

Preeti is pursuing a bachelors degree in Computer Science at BJB College, Bhubaneswar.
Preeti is an entrepreneur who runs Live More, a startup that delivers experiences and provides alternative life solutions to people. She also runs Mpower, a social wing of Live More to help capacity building of rural entrepreneurs and develop eco tourism in Orissa. Preeti has handled branding exercises in various promotional events, launches and campaigns for several companies. She is also the founder of Bhubaneswar Toastmasters Club and a public speaker.

I'm pursuing a bachelors degree in Computer Science from Manav Rachna College of Engineering, Faridabad. I'm an avid reader, keen on travelling around the globe and want to photograph lives of people the world over. I believe that every social issue can be solved by bringing it inside a circle of change, a circle that is self-sustainable. I'm working on modelling my own social venture in the future, based on this basic principle. I've volunteered my time at a blind school, have been involved in teaching kids since four years and organized many events in college fest Epiphany.Writing is a passion for me. I've worked in the school magazine and maintain a regular blog. Also worked for youthkiawaaz.com as a correspondent and sub-editor in a bid to initiate change in the thought process of my peers, through writing. Areas of interest: Entrepreneurship, documentaries, human resource development.

Swetansu is a senior undergraduate presently pursuing his M.Sc (Hons.) Mathematics & B.E (Hons.) Chemical Engineering in BITS - Pilani, Goa Campus.
He is interested in research in the field of Finance, Economics & Management and has been pursuing studies to develop a Private-Public-People Partnership model for the population at the Bottom of the Pyramid. An advocate of sustainable development, Swetansu is presently involved in leading a team for research and identification of technology oriented solutions affordable by the poor. He is also the curator for the TEDxBITSGoa Conference. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and is working towards having a start-up of his own.

Sumitha is currently pursuing her Masters in Public Health from George Washington University. Her concentrations are in Epidemiology and Global Health.
Sumitha is passionate about improving health outcomes of South Asians around the world. As a volunteer for the community health team of Bangalore Baptist Hospital she initiated the development of a seven module health education program for rural health care workers. In this capacity, she created all program curricula and taught classes on topics such as transmission of tuberculosis, family planning and safe water practices. She is the founder and current president of SAPHINA-South Asian Public Health Initiatives for Networking and Awareness which a student-led organization focused on increasing awareness of South Asian health and creating a network of students interested in improving South Asian health. She contributed to project SAHNA-South Asian Health Needs Assessment which is the largest study on the health status of South Asians in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. She is a regular volunteer for SAALT-South Asian Americans Leading Together and AID-Americans for Informed Democracy.

Subin Sudhir is a Doctoral student at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and is currently working in the area of
Marketing. Societal issues have been in the forefront of his research interests and the same makes justification for his
participation in the Authors of Change Program, during which, he works with Samhita (www.samhita.org) to reach out to NGOs
and help them grow their span of engagement with these NGOs.
Subin is an MBA and an Electrical Engineer with a passion for Marketing and the use of Information Technology to enable
efficient Management. As a marketing professional during his tenure of employment with one of the biggest business conglomerates
in India, Subin has played varied roles in creating business solutions for customers and stakeholders. An inquisitive scholar
and UGC-Junior Research Fellow, he has been consistently focusing on learning and applying management models to solve everyday
problems. He has also been working with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF) and the Society for Research and Initiatives
for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI), in developing an encouraging environment for Grassroot Innovation and
enhancement of Traditional Knowledge. He is a biker and loves to travel places, photography and playing Basketball.

Varsha is an alumnus of BITS Pilani Goa campus where she completed her Masters in Information Systems.
She is interested in just about anything under the sun and believes in trying everything at least once. At college she is the founder member of Career Development Cell which is a forum for campus-industry interaction. This ardent lover of The Beatles has travelled extensively in rural India capturing stories of change and inspiration as a summer fellow of Grassroutes. Believes in the potential of using social media for change, Varsha is the lead organizer of Twestival Global 2010 Goa edition. Previously, she worked as a Software Development Engineer at Amazon Development Center.

Yashovardhan is a final year student of Electronics and Telecommunication, at VPCOE, PUNE. He has been involved in promotional activities of NGOs on social media and is currently, an United Nations volunteer at CAAGLOP and has also worked as a BDA for Pune area. He chose to intern with Samhita, as he also believes that it is essential that people should be aware about the works of NGOs to increase their impact many folds. He also heads, Innovation Lab at his college and has had a leading role in its establishment. He has been involved in various activities during his college years driven by a two dimensional motive to explore his interests and to learn about every powerful medium one can use to have an impact. He is keenly interested in philosophy, surrealist movies and entrepreneurship.

Kristen is a Master of Public Health student at the George Washington University. Her concentrations are in Global Health, and Design, Monitoring and Evaluation. Kristen is committed to improving health outcomes in her own community and abroad. Her professional and academic interests lie in nutrition, public health program management and research. As a research intern with UNICEF’s Knowledge Community on Children in India in 2011, she co-designed and led a child health study in Bhubaneswar. She was also a project contributor of SAHNA, a study assessing the health needs of South Asians living in Washington, DC. Kristen has interned with Save the Children in Washington, DC on their global School Health and Nutrition program; and with the Alliance to End Hunger in Washington, DC. She is passionate about tutoring English and studying foreign languages. She has studied Spanish and received a Critical Language Scholarship from the U.S. Department of State to study Hindi in Jaipur in 2010.
