Overview

Approximately 45% of India’s land is degraded primarily due to deforestation, unsustainable agricultural practices, mining and excessive groundwater extraction. More than 2/3rds of this can be regenerated. In this changing time, with rise in carbon emissions, it is vital that we conserve trees. Grow Trees is a web enabled initiative that offers both individuals and corporates the opportunity to plant trees and/or gift trees and obtain eTree certificates for the nobel cause. Individuals can plant trees with just a few clicks and can gift the tress along with their personal message to celebrate festivals, birthdays, anniversaries or other special occasions. Individuals can send several e-greetings at once, schedule automatic e-greeting deliveries on future dates and upload a picture or a logo to make the greeting even more personal and create a lifetime account to view one’s complete gifting history and set up reminders. Plantings are audited by third party auditors to ensure transparency and accountability.

Model

We have our own nursery and our on-field planting partners who facilitate the actual planting. These organizations have experience in planting trees and also have a team of biologists to study the agro-climatic conditions before selecting the species for plantations. The plantation is done with the help of the community around the area who are paid for their labour.  They look after the plants as they benefit with the fruits, fodder and non-timber forests produce. The planting starts during January and saplings are kept in nurseries for 6 months till they reach the height of 2 feet. During monsoon the saplings are planted in the open. The saplings that don’t survive in the current year are replanted in the next monsoon without any additional cost borne by the customer.

How can you partner with us?

We are looking forward to work with the companies and offer a payroll program to employees, with no cost to the company, to plant a grove of 10 trees a month at Rs 60 per tree. The employees can "bank" their trees in their accounts and send out tree-dedication e-certificates with their personal message to friends on birthdays, anniversaries, Diwali, New Year, etc. The company can share in this cost, if it so desires, and have its logo put on the certificate. This would invite employee participation, reach out to potential customers through employees' greetings, contribute to CSR, and visibly enhance the company's green image. We would also work with companies interested in undertaking green initiatives under their CSR mandate by planting trees.
