Mission
Samhita, which means 'collective good', aims to create an enabling ecosystem for social organizations, donors, volunteers, service providers and other support organizations.
Our work is built on the realization that:
- Social organizations solve critical social issues but struggle to sustain themselves and scale their impact. They need an enabling support system to build effective organizations that will create a significant impact.
- People who want to support social causes are often unaware of the existence, work and needs of social organizations. High transaction costs, absence of credible information and lack of transparency about the use and impact of their contribution deter them from supporting the sector.
- The social sector needs an integrating force that can organize sector information, facilitate interaction, inspire collaboration, mobilize resources, promote best practices, improve efficiency and scale social impact.
Our guiding principles:
- Equity - We are here to support all organizations and individuals who want to create social good. It does not matter if you are just starting off or are a large organization or work in the metros or villages. We are here to provide the support system that you need to realize your social objectives.
- Collaboration - We want to work with you. Our goal is audacious and the only way that we will succeed is by working together with individuals, foundations, companies, research organizations, government agencies and even “competitors” (we always prefer to collaborate). If you have an idea or a project that we can help with, please write to us at info@samhita.org
- Empathy - We respect and admire the work that you do. We want to hear your stories and understand your challenges so that we can constantly deliver services that will help you achieve your goals
- Innovation - We work in a sector that needs low cost, high impact solutions that can be delivered at scale. Our survival depends on innovation. If you have suggestions about how we can improve ourselves, we’d love to hear from you.
- Urgency - We are lucky to have privileged lives. There are billions of people around us who didn't luck out. We want to change that. Starting now!
