GraVITas invites students with innovative ideas to participate in Social Transformers’ 11

Social Transformers is the initiative towards advancing the culture of social entrepreneurship in India. This social entrepreneurship event at GraVITas, Vellore Institute of Technology’s annual fest, was conceptualised in the spring of 2009 to encourage young minds to find solutions for critical social problems. This event serves as a platform for the participants to demonstrate their business models to experts in order to convert their idea into a venture.

In keeping with the times, this year ST has a new criterion, videos of the team and their idea to give the panel a better picture of the team’s pitch. Each team who has contested will be given valuable feedback by the judges, at every stage of the competition; their flaws and their plus points, everything.

The winners of the competition are provided by seed-funds to start-up their venture and resource pool in addition to the incubation offer with VIT-CSED.

Who is eligible for it?

Participation is open to all students doing their undergraduate and postgraduate courses and who are currently not working.

How to enter it?

-      The first step to be a part of this event is to create and submit an executive summary.

-      Step two requires your team to create a two minute video showcasing your idea.

Selection Process

The judges will consider the executive summary and the quality of the content of the video for both the rounds of elimination in addition to the following criteria:

-      Innovation

-      Feasibility

-      Business plan

-      Social Impact

-      Team Strength

-      Past Trials/Prototype

-      Field Research

By when do you submit this?

The online form should be submitted by the 4th of September and the video should be uploaded by the same date. Any entry that does not conform to the deadlines will not be considered for the event.

Results of Preliminary Round: September 5, 2011

Confirmation E-mail: September 6, 2011
