Ahona has considerable research experience in development issues with a special focus on philanthropy and social enterprises in Asia. As a business journalist with The Economic Times newspaper, part of the Times of India Group, a leading media corporation, she has written prolifically on this sector in India.
She has engaged with large Indian and international philanthropic foundations, philanthropists, impact investors, social enterprises and international donor agencies as a journalist.
Ahona was part of the founding team of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Foundation’s project – One Laptop Per Child in Brussels as they started their European Chapter. She helped raise funds from leading European companies and European Commission agencies to finance education development in Africa, the Caribbean and Asia. She comes with strong relationship management skills and has extensive experience in engaging with companies, NGOs and organizations like the European Parliament and European Commission agencies.
Ahona has a Master’s degree in Public Administration, Public and Social Policy, from the London School of Economics and Political Science, U.K. and a B.A. with honors in Journalism (Cum Laude), from the United States International University in Nairobi, Kenya.
